Ramon Planes delighted taking charge of Real Betis: I had offers from abroad

Ramon Planes is delighted taking charge of Real Betis.

Planes, after leaving Getafe, was confirmed as new sporting director at Real Betis on Monday.

He said: "A very good feeling, very calm and very confident. I have seen an environment of very committed people with the project, with what comes in the final stretch. My message has been that I am a person who comes to add up. Everyone has a responsibility and I assume my maximum responsibility as sports director, but what is really important are the players, the coaching staff. They are the protagonists.

"I have offered to help them and to be one more within the group to achieve the objectives that Betis wants."

Planes continued, "It is true that my name was associated on many occasions with the club. In football, timing is very important, being at the right moment and I had no doubts for many years. I had this feeling that I would end up working at Real Betis as sports director because many things come together.

"My love for football, for young people, for quality football, for a series of virtues that football people and Betis football have. It was the opportune moment.

"The club is in a growth phase, it is doing things very well and the trust that the Board of Directors has shown towards me in recent weeks, it is true that there were other possibilities from abroad, but it was clear to me that Real Betis was an ideal club for me to continue growing as a professional and to contribute all the knowledge I have."
