Quique Sánchez Flores has been named new coach of Getafe.

Sanchez Flores succeeds Cosmin Contra, who left over Christmas for China's Guangzhou R&F.

He said yesterday: "In the last two weeks the players have lived in different situations, they have been distracted. So in recent games we have not see the best of them. But Getafe is designed to make things right and hit targets. We will work professionally and in the shortest time possible we hope to achieve many things.

"The squad is ready. There have been injuries that have made us suffer, but these things happen in football and we will react. There is a winter transfer market to try and build a squad that can compete well in the remaining five months of the season."
