Quinn: Borini can be Sunderland legend

Former Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn says Fabio Borini can become a new Black Cats hero.

The on-loan Liverpool striker hit the winner against Newcastle United yesterday.

Quinn told talkSPORT: "There are great players who played for Sunderland for years and years and never got a goal against Newcastle and it really does put you at the top of a great list when you do something like that, and he has to get confidence from that. He has a chance of being a hero up there for a long time, not just letting it fade away.

"I remember Darren Bent when he came up to Sunderland and his career wasn't going very well. Within a couple of months he had 49,000 people absolutely adoring him and he made his way into the England team, so that's what can happen when that swell of support is behind you and you get your confidence back, and I hope Borini does the same thing."
