QPR saw off a late rival bid from Arsenal to land Christopher Samba from Anzhi last week.
The Sunday Mirror says Samba was pitched straight their relegation battle against Norwich after joining the Rs for a £12.5million fee.
The 28-year-old Congolese is on a four-and-a-half year contract worth, according to sources close to him £60,000 a week, rather than the £100,000 that has been reported.
In fact, Rangers outbid Arsenal last week for the giant defender, paying £4m more than Arsene Wenger was willing to splash out on him.
