QPR striker Peter Skapetis scored the only goal as the Olyroos beat Iran 1-0 in the second group game of the Asian Football Confederation U22 championships on Tuesday.
Skapetis slotted home in the 56th minute at the Royal Oman Police Stadium in Muscat after Iranian goalkeeper Ali Reza Beiranvand was unable to clear a header from Newcastle United's Curtis Good.
The victory allowed Aurelio Vidmar's Australian U23 side to move to the top of Group C with two wins from two matches following Sunday's 1-0 victory over Kuwait which came courtesy of a first-half goal from Adelaide United's Ryan Kitto.
English Championship club QPR posted a message of congratulations for Skapetis on Twitter.
