QPR boss Chris Ramsey hailed Rio Ferdinand for the strength he showed during his wife's illness.
Rebecca Ellison, 34, passed away on Saturday evening after a short battle with breast cancer and despite the fact his partner was ill, Ferdinand continued to be professional towards his football in a truly testing time.
Ramsey said of the 36-year old defender: "Everyone at the club will tell you, as a man, he has been fantastic. He has come in and trained and kept it all to himself. He is not been moping and has talked to all the young players.
"He has been a man-mountain. We only have good things to say about him and the way he has conducted himself."
