QPR are favourites to sign Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole.

The Daily Express says Cole is set to be Queens Park Rangers' first signing of the January transfer window if they can agree a deal with the Anfield club on his wages.

Cole, 31, has struggled to establish himself at Liverpool since returning from his loan spell at French club Lille and QPR manager Harry Redknapp wants to take him on loan until the end of the season.

But the former England star is on a £90,000-a-week deal at Anfield and while QPR owner Tony Fernandes is prepared to cover most of that sum, he wants to come to a deal with Liverpool in which they pay a portion of it.
