QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is delighted to be working with manager Harry Redknapp.
The 50-year-old Malaysian boss of Air Asia reveals he very nearly missed out on Redknapp's services.
"It is a funny story," he told the London Evening Standard. "My first ever game here as chairman was QPR vs Newcastle. I saw Harry there. I was a bit star struck."
A West Ham supporter since the age of eight, he adds: "Harry was like a legend to me. I was thinking, 'God if only Harry Redknapp could manage QPR'. I thought, 'that is impossible'.
"We played Southampton [in November 2012] and lost [leaving the club with four points from 12 games]. Reluctantly we decided to let Mark [Hughes] go. It was a very painful decision. I called Harry up on his mobile. He was not surprised. He was expecting my call."
