QPR boss Redknapp reveals Austin contract talks

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed new contract talks with Charlie Austin.

He was linked with Liverpool and Tottenham over the weekend, but Redknapp is convinced his future remains at Loftus Road.

Redknapp said: "I'm sure the club would (like to sort his contract out). I don't get involved in that. The chairman Tony Fernandes and Phil Beard do.

"I'm sure everyone wants to keep Charlie here and I'm sure they will be sitting down talking to him.

"I have never discussed it with him. He is going well at the moment, but he needs to keep doing well.

"It's early in the season and will be judged at the end. He's a player that needs to get 20 goals-a-season. He is capable of that, the way he's playing. He's a great lad and I'm sure he is very happy here.

"We have not had any enquiries from anybody else as far as I know. He's only played a dozen games in the Premier League, there is still a long way to go.

"He knows that. He's improving week by week. He is full of confidence and is happy here."
