QPR boss Redknapp: My decision Taarabt missed U21 game

QPR boss Harry Redknapp says it was his decision to withdraw Adel Taarabt from Monday's U21 game.

Taarabt's absence sparked fresh speculation of a blow-up with Redknapp.

Redknapp said: "He came to see me Monday morning for a chat. We had a great chat, he came in and admitted he needed to get fitter, wants to get fit and play and get back in the team.

"I felt, having spoken to him, rather than sticking him in the Under 21s as the only senior player, he came and worked very hard with the first team group and put in real shift.

"I'm pleased with his attitude. I'm pleased with the chat, he held up his hand and said wanted to get fitter and back in team.

"Adel might be involved this weekend. I wouldn't hesitate to put him in the squad. Let's wait and see who's available, but Adel's the kind of player who could change the game for us, so let's see."
