QPR boss Harry Redknapp admits he was keen to sign Tottenham winger David Bentley on-loan last week.
QPR still took Jermaine Jenas on an 18-month contract, and Andros Townsend on loan from White Hart Lane, but Redknapp missed out on a hat-trick of signings, as he admitted.
"We were going to take three players on loan, and we did a deal with Daniel (Levy, Spurs chairman) on the (Bentley) wages, but then we had other options," explained Redknapp.
"We were looking at Peter Crouch coming, and Bentley's a great deliverer of the ball, and that was the thinking behind that one.
"Bentley went to Russia and played out in the middle of nowhere - and it takes some bottle do that, so we wanted him, but his wages were a bit heavier than the others and it didn't happen."
