Pulisic happy to grab Chelsea winner against West Ham

Christian Pulisic was delighted to be back on Chelsea's scoresheet for victory over West Ham yesterday.

It was his first goal since the Champions League victory at Lille and was a strike that took Chelsea seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth in the Premier League, with six games left to play in the race for a top-four finish.

Speaking about his goal, Pulisic says it was a deserved one for the Blues in what was a game of few chances at the Bridge.

"It was a massive goal. We had so much pressure on them for most of the game but we couldn't get that breakthrough, so I am happy I was able to help out," Pulisic said.

"I always want to be on the pitch, to help my team and I am glad I got the opportunity today. We played a good match and we got our deserved goal in the end.

"I needed to come in and make a difference, prove I want to be playing and I am happy I did that."

West Ham did deploy a deep block in west London, with Chelsea attempting 26 shots compared to the visitors six and the forward admitted it was not a surprise it took until the dying embers of the match to break the deadlock.

"West Ham defended very well," added Pulisic. "They play with a low block and sometimes it is hard to break through. Sometimes you have to be patient and in the second half we stepped it up.

"It feels good. We want to be secure in the top four. There are still some matches left and this was a good step in the right direction.

"It was really good. We needed a home win, obviously it feels great in front of our fans. Some big league games, then the FA Cup final, so this is a good boost for us."
