Wim van Hanegem insists PSV Eindhoven do not have to sell Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Both players have been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal and are expected to be cashed in by PSV.

But former Dutch star Van Hanegem insists: "That intermediate step of Depay and Wijnaldum could also be made by staying another year at PSV.

"Because they'll play in the Champions League, yet again a level that would be higher.

"I understand that it is special when the phone rings and you're speaking with Real Madrid . It's hard to resist that.

"But these guys have also seen some bad examples in recent years (of Eredivise stars leaving)."
