Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel is facing longer on the sidelines as he recovers from knee surgery.

Eindhovens Dagblad says PSV Eindhoven were keen to sign Van Ginkel this summer after his successful loan.

However, the midfielder may not be fit for preseason so forcing PSV to drop plans to sign him this summer.

Van Ginkel is off contract in 2020 and it's suggested he may not be ready for the start of next season.

He has had three separate loan spells with PSV since signing for Chelsea.
