Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes has blasted David Luiz following his performance in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian defender was at his worst as Paris Saint-Germain slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the quarter-final first leg at Parc des Princes.
Luiz was completely outdone by Luis Suarez on two occasions as the Uruguayan stuck the ball through his legs before hitting the back of the net and his showing in the contest was simply not good enough according to Scholes.
'I do wonder whether the bigger the game is, the more the risks that David Luiz decides to take,' Scholes wrote in his column for the London Evening Standard.
'Against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the previous round of the Champions League he was excellent. Then against Barcelona on Wednesday he was a defensive disaster.
'What you need from a defender is reliability and consistency and, for all his good games, it is the mistake waiting around the corner that would terrify a manager.'
