PSG defender Sergio Ramos releases statement after Spain World Cup snub

PSG defender Sergio Ramos has released a statement after being left out of Spain's squad.

Luis Enrique did not name the former Real Madrid captain on his Spain World Cup squad list for Qatar despite the rumours.

“It would have been the fifth, but unfortunately I have to watch it from home," said Ramos.

The PSG defender spoke about the decision to leave him out on social media.

“Last season was hard because of injuries and adapting to a new club and a new city. I worked on body and soul to recover and feel myself again, guided by objectives and hopes that you set and propose to yourself.

“Luckily I can say that this season I am feeling myself again and enjoying football again, at my club and in a great city like Paris.

“The World Cup? Of course, it was one of the big dreams I had. It would have been the fifth but unfortunately I have to watch it from home.

“It's tough, but every day the sun rises. It will not change anything in me. Neither my mentality, nor my passion, nor the effort and dedication that I have 24 hours a day thinking about football.

“This is what I feel and I wanted to share it with you. Thanks for the love, there are many challenges and objectives ahead. We will see each other soon. I wish them the best, vamos Spain!"
