PSG boss Blanc: We 'need to stand up and be counted' at Chelsea

Laurent Blanc has asked his Paris Saint-Germain to make the most of their Champions League opportunity this week.

The French champions meet Chelsea in the Round of 16 second leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night having been forced into a 1-1 draw in the initial bout in Paris on February 17.

PSG have the chance to progress to the quarter-finals of Europe's premier club competition and manager Blanc is urging his players to do everything they can in order to get the better of Jose Mourinho's Blues.

"Paris Saint-Germain need to stand up and be counted. We also need to stay in the game. That's the difficulty. Yes, we need to attack, yes, we need to create chances, but we also need to stay solid," said the former Manchester United defender.

"Chelsea have a slight advantage, because they were able to score an away goal. It's up to us to try to do what Chelsea did in Paris.

"One of Chelsea's main threats is the fact they're very good on the counter attack, so I don't think we should go gung ho. We have to attack and we need to score a goal, regardless of whether Chelsea get one or not.

"I hope we do better than Chelsea did in the first leg. Chelsea created only one chance and they scored from that. I hope we create more than one chance."
