Protest groups call off Portsmouth action

Pompey Virtual Alliance and SOS Pompey have pledged to call off planned protests at Burnley, reports The News. The move has come after Peter Storrie announced he would resign once the club has come out of administration.

Mike Hall, a member of both groups and also a figure in the Pompey Supporters' Trust, had voiced his intention to target Storrie and other members of the Fratton Park hierarchy at Turf Moor on Saturday.

However, that has now been scrapped.

Instead Hall has called on all Pompey fans to unite behind administration and continue supporting the team.

He said: "Now that Portsmouth City Football Club Limited has been placed into administration, we call on all Pompey fans to rally round our club at its time of need.

"Now is not the time to sit back and watch events unfold passively, but to show how much this club means to us.

"We welcome the resignation of Peter Storrie and would like to make clear that owing to his resignation the planned protest at Burnley calling for his resignation is cancelled.

"We now urge the administrator Andrew Andronikou to make it a priority to speak to the Pompey Supporters Trust about the role they can play during this difficult time.

"We will support any one wants the best for our proud football club and understands the passion, honesty and integrity of our club and its city, with its rich traditions and history. But we will not accept anyone past or present thinking they can ever again take our club for a ride.

"Portsmouth Football Club needs a clean break from the past, a fresh start free of the baggage and personalities of the past."
