Printer giants Epson linked with shock Man Utd buyout

Epson were linked with a shock takeover of Manchester United in Germany last week.

United have since played down rumours that the Glazer family has sold the club to Epson.

Reports in an German business paper claimed that the Americans had finally given up their battle for Old Trafford and handed a controlling stake to the Japanese printer giants .

But on Friday afternoon a United insider told the MirrorFootball.co.uk that the club had not been sold - and that Epson were instead becoming one of the club's Platinum Sponsors.

Rumours have been rife this week that the Glazers were on the point of selling United after they mysteriously paid off £220m in high-interest loans.

The family have refused to say whether they did the deal by refinancing, cashing in on other assets or selling a share of their stake at Old Trafford.
