More than 20 names are in the hat for the vacant manager's post at League One Preston, according to chairman Peter Ridsdale.
"Half a dozen are top quality candidates, and it will need me to spend some time with them to see if they are the right fit for Preston North End. I will be seeing some people and have seen people already because they have asked to meet up and talk. I am not going to comment specifically on individuals, but I'm sure if I wrote down a list and other people did, they would be quite similar."
"We're in no hurry because we want to get the right decision," he added. "I think it's highly likely that Graham (Alexander) and David (Unsworth) will in charge for Boxing Day. You never know exactly what is going to happen, but I'd be extremely surprised if they weren't." He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "We had 22 people who have applied. There were actually more, but I'm talking about 22 names in football as oppose to young lads playing Championship Manager on the computer.
