The race for the 2013/14 Barclays Premier League title is beginning to really heat up with the top four teams all producing winning performances over the weekend.
League leaders Chelsea edged Everton 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to an injury-time winner from captain John Terry to remain one point clear of second-placed Arsenal who beat Sunderland 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Olivier Giroud scored a first-half double before goals from Tomas Rosicky and Laurent Koscielny gave the Gunners an unassailable lead prior to Emanuele Giaccherini's consolation goal nine minutes from time.
Third-placed Manchester City needed a 70th-minute goal from Yaya Toure to beat Stoke City 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium while Liverpool stayed fourth courtesy of a 4-3 victory over Swansea City in a scintillating fixture at Anfield.
Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson preceded two in quick succession from Swansea pair Jonjo Shelvey and Wilfried Bony before Sturridge had the Reds ahead at half-time.
Bony grabbed his second with a penalty early in the second half to tie it up before Henderson became the third player on the day to net a brace when he scored a 74th-minute winner from close range.
West Ham United extended their winning streak to four matches thanks to a 3-1 triumph over Southampton at Upton Park.
The Saints actually took an early lead through Maya Yoshida but the Hammers came out on top thanks to first-half goals from Matt Jarvis and Cartlon Cole before skipper Kevin Nolan wrapped up the win.
Elsewhere, Nikica Jelavic netted twice as Hull City hammered Cardiff City 4-0 in south Wales, West Bromwich Albion scored late to force a 1-1 draw with bottom-placed Fulham at The Hawthorns, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney were on target as Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park, a late Loic Remy goal gave Newcastle United a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at St James' Park and Robert Snodgrass gave Norwich City a similar scoreline over Tottenham at Carrow Road.
