PREMIER LEAGUE WRAP: Arsenal rock Chelsea, Man Utd back on winners list and Man City win again

Saturday, October 29 saw the most goals in a single day for the English Premier League season so far with 31 in eight matches in another enthralling day of action.

It kicked off early with Manchester United bouncing back to the winners list thanks to a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park despite having less shots on goal than their opponents. Javier Hernandez scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute with a simple finish for his fourth of the campaign.

In London, Arsenal fell behind twice before rallying in the second half to record an enormous 5-3 victory over derby rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Gunners captain Robin van Persie stole the show with a hat-trick as Andre Santos and Theo Walcott joined him on the scoresheet with Frank Lampard, John Terry and Juan Mata providing the home side's goals.

Manchester City did the job with a 3-1 result at home against Wolves despite losing skipper Vincent Kompany to a red card. Edin Dzeko scored a ninth league goal of the season and joining him where Aleksandar Kolarov and Adam Johnson whilst Stephen Hunt converted from the penalty spot for the losers.

There was late drama in Norfolk as Blackburn Rovers were cruelly denied maximum points at Norwich City with a 3-3 draw the final result. The visitors swept to a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Junior Hoilett, Yakubu and Chris Samba but Steven Morison's special volley kept the Canaries in touch before a lucky deflection from Bradley Johnson's shot made it 3-2 and then a questionable handball against Rovers' Steven Nzonzi in injury time allowed Grant Holt to force the draw from the penalty spot.

Sunderland were also another lucky home team to grab a late leveler as Stephane Sessegnon gave his side a share of the points with an 89th minute header to make it 2-2. Villa skipper Stiliyan Petrov and central defender Richard Dunne scored either side of Connor Wickham's first top flight goal for the Black Cats but Steve Bruce's side managed some late intervention to put a point in their pocket at the death.

The goals kept coming as Swansea City defeated Bolton Wanderers 3-1 to maintain their unbeaten home record. Joe Allen opened the scoring just after Trotters midfielder Ricardo Gardner was sent off for a second bookable offence early in the second half before Scott Sinclair netted a penalty to make to 2-0. Swans sub Danny Graham conceded an own goal with just over 15 minutes left but made up for his error by wrapping up proceedings in injury time.

Fulham were served by goals from Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele as they defeated Wigan Athletic 2-0 with the Latics dropping to the bottom whilst Liverpool comfortably took care of West Bromwich Albion 2-0 at The Hawthorns thanks to first-half goals from Charlie Adam and Andy Carroll.

Tomorrow sees Tottenham host QPR in another London derby as Stoke City get prepared to take on the undefeated Newcastle United at Britannia Stadium on Monday night to complete the weekends fixtures.
