PREMIER LEAGUE: Wigan fall to bottom after Fulham defeat

Wigan paid the price for a failure to take their chances as they went down 2-0 at home to relegation rivals Fulham. Fulham earned the three points as they condemned Wigan to seventh straight defeat but the Latics will wonder how they failed to get something out of the game.

The home side were on top for long periods but could not score, and in addition hit the woodwork through Victor Moses and Maynor Figueroa.

The Cottagers have not been prolific scorers on their travels until today and started with Clint Dempsey tucking one away just before the break.

It was the same scenario in the second half with the visitor's clinching the game late-on through Moussa Dembele.

Referee: Mike Jones

Venue: DW Stadium Attendance: 15,796

Wigan scorers: Fulham scorers: Dempsey 42, Dembele 87

TRIBAL ASKS: Will Wigan owner Dave Whelan begin to lose patience with his manager despite supporting him in the past?

Yellow cards: Grygera (FUL), Hangeland (FUL), Etuhu (FUL), Duff (FUL), Dembele (FUL), Alcaraz (WIG), Caldwell (WIG)
