Swansea City have produced a solid defensive performance to hold Newcastle United to a 0-0 draw at Sports Direct Arena.
The Welsh club did little to worry home keeper Tim Krul as Michel Vorm was kept extremely busy down the other end to make it three clean sheets in their last six outings.
Newcastle had no less than 22 attempts at goal but were often wide of the mark with just three on target as the likes of Demba Ba, Leon Best, Yohan Cabaye and the Ameobi brothers drew a blank.
The Magpies had by far the best chances in the opening half with Cabaye's early free-kick not far off before he played a pinpoint dead ball to Fabricio Coloccini who was unable to direct his diving header at the back post past Vorm. The Dutchman produced a huge save from Ba's acrobatic attempt from just outside six-yard box late in the half just moments before Jonas Gutierrez swung a rocket inches wide of the mark when Vorm was at full stretch.
Scott Sinclair provided Swansea's best chance of the match in the 74th minute when he dragged wide from well inside the area.
Nonetheless, Brendan Rodgers would be delighted with a third point away from home this campaign as the Swans dropped to 12th with Fulham replacing them whilst Newcastle moved back to sixth at the expense of Liverpool who meet Aston Villa tomorrow.
