With speculation mounting on whether or not striker Robbie Keane will be moving on from Liverpool, a Premier League rule has cancelled out any move to former club Tottenham.

Rumours are ripe of the Republic of Ireland international heading back to join Harry Redknapp at the Spurs but a Premier League spokesman ruled out the move.

"It is written in section L19 of the Premier League rules that a club which transfers or cancels the registration of a player may not apply to register that player within a year," the spokesman saids.

"The only exception to that is if it has been made with the prior written consent of the Premier League board."
