PREMIER LEAGUE: Liverpool get the better of Villa

Liverpool have produced a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa today at Villa Park to move back to sixth on the Premier League table.

The Reds took the lead in the 11th minute when Craig Bellamy toe-poked home from close range after Stewart Downing's corner was flicked goalward by Jonjo Shelvey before Luis Suarez followed up the rebound but was denied by Brad Guzan. However, Bellamy was on hand to send it home for his second in the league since returning to Anfield.

Less than four minutes later and the Reds were two to the good when Bellamy's inswinging corner from the left was met at the front post by Martin Skrtel who sent his glancing header to the other side of the goal with Guzan looking on.

Liverpool were basically in control throughout although Charles N'Zogbia's 21st minute lash wasn't far off drawing one back for Villa but Suarez should have made it three-nil early in the second half when he turned Richard Dunne in the area before cannoning his shot off the crossbar with Guzan at bay.

Just over ten minutes later, the Uruguayan was again desperately unlucky when he played chipped attempt which beat the back-tracking Villa keeper but was this time denied by the upright but Suarez's near misses didn't change the outcome of the game as Kenny Dalglish's men grabbed their fourth win their last five matches away from home.

The defeat was Villa's third in their past five as Alex McLeish sees his charges remain 10th ahead of their midweek meeting with Arsenal.

TRIBAL ASKS:Liverpool are getting the desired results away from home. If they can start turning draws into wins at Anfield, can they challenge for the title?
