PREMIER LEAGUE: Chelsea hold Tottenham to hand Leicester title

Leicester City have been confirmed as Barclays Premier League champions for season 2015/16.

Tottenham Hotspur's 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight has allowed the Foxes to clinch their first-ever league title in their 132-year history in what has been an amazing turn around by the East Midlands.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs needed to win their remaining three fixtures ahead of their Monday night meeting with London rivals Chelsea and it looked like they would keep their title dream alive when they went into the half-time break two goals up.

Star striker Harry Kane received an exquisite through ball from Erik Lamela and took two neat touches to round Asmir Begovic and slot home into an empty net, sending the White Hart Lane faithful into raptures.

Tottenham doubled their advantage on the stroke of the break when Christian Eriksen played in Heung-min Son on the right side of the area and the South Korean took a touch before superbly firing beyond Begovic.

Spurs were hoping for their first win at The Bridge in 26 years but they're knocked down a peg just before the hour-mark mark when Blues centre-half Gary Cahill fired home a left-footed volley from within a crowd of players after Willian's corner had fallen kindly for him.

The Chelsea fans were ecstatic after that goal, as they strived to deny Tottenham the title, but their reaction to Eden Hazard's equaliser in the 83rd minute was deafening.

Diego Costa found the Belgian after an exchange of passes and the second-half sub did the rest with a sublime curling finish from just inside the area.

Guus Hiddink's Chelsea were able to rile the Spurs players from that point on and it brought about strong reactions in the form of reckless challenges and a massive scuffle between both sides outside the tunnel after the final whistle.

But in the East Midlands, it was our unbridled joy as the Foxes pulled off one of the most amazing feats in the history of the sport in England by coming up from the Championship two seasons ago, and from bottom place late last season, to lift the trophy which they will do at King Power Stadium on Saturday evening after the clash with Everton.

2015/16 Barclays Premier League - season scores

Chelsea: 2 (Gary Cahill 58', Eden Hazard 83')
Tottenham: 2 (Harry Kane 35', Heung-min Son 44')
Stamford Bridge, London - 41,545
