PREMIER LEAGUE: Blackburn make it first win in nine

An entertaining game at Ewood Park saw Blackburn Rovers climb off the foot of the table with a 4-2 win over Swansea, with man-of-the-match Yakubu scoring all four. This was only Rovers second win in the league this season and the Nigerian got them on their way with the opening goal.

Swansea hit-back and levelled though Leroy Lita but it was the host's who went in at the break in the lead as Yakubu scored on the stroke of half-time.

Just after the restart the Rovers hitman got his hat-trick with a header and though the visitor's from South Wales threatened a comeback as Luke Moore reduced the deficit their hopes were extinguished as Joe Allen was dismissed for a second yellow card.

Almost immediately Yakubu clinched the points with a penalty after Simon Vucekic was tripped taking his tally for the season to ten

Swansea's poor away record continues and they are now winless in four games.
