PREMIER LEAGUE: All square as Norwich and QPR gain first points of season

Norwich City and QPR have recorded their first points of the Premier League campaign via a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

Both sides were beaten 5-0 on opening weekend - Norwich to Fulham and QPR to Swansea City - but they were able to get off the mark for season 2012/13, trading first-half goals.

The Canaries struck first when Simeon Jackson got on the end of Anthony Pilkington's chipped cross from the left to courageously head home in the 11th minute.

The R's managed to level inside 20 minutes but in rather controversial circumstances when Djibril Cisse was awarded a penalty for Sebastian Bassong's tackle on him in the area.

Frenchman Cisse picked himself up only to see his spot-kick pushed onto the upright by John Ruddy but Bobby Zamora, who had clearly encroached the area before the kick was taken, followed up and slotted home with his trusty left boot.

Nevertheless, the goal stood forcing a draw and getting both Chris Hughton and Mark Hughes' seasons off the dreaded zero points following horror first fixture results.

Norwich City: 1 (Simeon Jackson 11') Queens Park Rangers: 1 (Bobby Zamora 19')

Carrow Road, Norwich - 26,317
