Pre-season has helped Perth Glory's Sterjovski fire

Perth Glory forward Mile Sterjovski has put his good early-season form down to the fact that he managed a solid pre-season.

The 31-year old was expected to take the A-League by storm last season when he arrived at Perth from English Championship club Derby County but his fitness levels heavily impacted his performances in a campaign he would rather forget from a personal viewpoint.

But this season, Sterjovski has shaken off an ankle injury to net three goals in four matches, and he admits he is feeling in good touch with the joint league leaders.

"I've been feeling much better than I did last year and it comes down to a very good pre-season," Sterjovski told the West Australian.

"I'm really enjoying my football and I'm enjoying my time here so it all comes together and I think that shows in my performance."

Sterjovski scored the first goal then set up the second for Robbie Fowler in Sunday's 2-1 win over Wellington Phoenix which kept the Glory on top of the A-League table ahead of their round 6 clash with Gold Coast United.
