Praise for Stockdale from Fulham boss Meulensteen

Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale has received kind words from manager Rene Meulensteen after his performance in Wednesday's 2-1 home win over ten-man West Ham United.

The 28-year old deputised for the injured Maarten Stekelenburg and was a key contributor in the victory, producing a fine save to deny a Kevin Nolan header, who was later sent off, when the Hammers were 1-0 up at Craven Cottage.

Without that save, West Ham could have been in pole position but he came through with the goods and eventually saw Fulham record a vital win much to the delight of the boss.

"People talk about Kevin Nolan's sending off being the defining moment but that could've been the defining moment," Meulensteen told Sky Sports.

"We might have been drained if that went in. He was immense stepping in against Norwich (2-1 away win), too."
