Sunderland boss Gus Poyet says Phil Bardsley is part of his future.

Former Manchester United full-back Bardsley, 28, was frozen out by ex-boss Paolo Di Canio after being pictured lying in a pile of £50 notes on the floor of a casino.

"Phil was one of the main ones starting from zero but you can see how much he cares. He is someone who feels for the club and it is important to have players like that," said Poyet.
