Hamburg are ready to sell striker Ivica Olic in the summer for £4 million.
Newcastle and Portsmouth are competing for the Croatia international.
Olic, 28, has top-scored with 10 goals this season for Hamburg. He struck in Croatia's 3-2 win against England last November.
