The Evening Chronicle says Toon are keen on Portsmouth keeper Ferguson, a player who would come into contention should Fraser Forster be sold to Celtic.

The 23-year-old Ireland youth international is being monitored by the Magpies and Ferguson could be available at a reduced rate.
