Portsmouth defender Rocha blasts Chelsea's Malouda: He didn't try for ball

Portsmouth defender Ricardo Rocha has hit out at Chelsea winger Florent Malouda. Rocha has accused Malouda of setting out to hurt him with a vicious swipe of the elbow during Wednesday's Barclays Premier League clash at Portsmouth.

Rocha, who escaped with bad bruising after the 5-0 defeat, said: "I saw the images after the game. I think it was a bad one from him. He just got a yellow card. I think these kinds of actions are dangerous in football and it should have been a red card. He just hit me and did not try to get the ball. The pain was so great I thought something was broken."

Portsmouth manager Avram Grant worked with Malouda at Chelsea and he thought the challenge was reckless at the very least.

He said: "I can tell you, on the record, that Malouda is one of the most sporting players I've encountered. He is neither malicious nor aggressive. At the same time, though, it was not the best of challenges. It was much more a case, in my eyes, of going for the man rather than the ball."
