Porto star breaks Champions League record of Man Utd legend

FC Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has broken Edwin van der Sar's Champions League clean sheet record.

The former Real Madrid star produced his 51st shutout in Europe's premier club competition as Portuguese giants Porto defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Van der Sar had kept 50 clean sheets during his time as number one at Ajax, Juventus and Manchester United but has seen 34-year-old Spaniard Casillas move past him.

Sitting behind the pair is former Barcelona gloveman, and current United back-up, Victor Valdes who has 45 appearances in the Champions League when not conceding.

Arsenal's Petr Cech equalled Valdes on 45 in his side's 2-0 win over Bayern Munich while Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon sits fifth with 37 clean sheets against his name.
