Portland Timbers' Spencer keen to make use of Boyd's finishing skills

Portland Timbers head coach John Spencer has labelled Kris Boyd as one of the 'best finishers in the British game'.

The former Rangers, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest striker netted his fourth goal of the MLS season with a 67th minute finish in the 1-1 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps on the weekend and Spencer is keen to get plenty more ball to the Scottish forward.

"You get him a chance in the box, the ball is in the back of the net, plain and simple," Spencer said.

"We have one of the best finishers in the British game on our club, and if we don't get him chances he's not going to score goals, plain and simple."
