Portland Timbers have announced the signing of Cameroonian winger Franck Song'o.

The 24-year old has been impressive during pre-season training for the Timbers and after a recent trial match against reigning champions LA Galaxy, where he provided two assists in the 4-1 win, the club decided to snap up his services.

Songo'o, who has spent time with Barcelona's youth team as well as Portsmouth, Crystal Palace and Real Zaragoza, is delighted to have joined Portland and is looking forward to showing his wares in the physicality of MLS.

"It feels good to be part of the team finally," Songo'o said.

"Now I have to work harder than before to have a place on the team - the starting 11 - and to have a good season.

"It's really, really physical. My first two days, I was impressed by how physical it is (in MLS). The guys are really fast and it's fast football, kind of like the Premier League."
