Portland Timbers are being heavily linked with Argentine striker Gaston Fernandez.
Reports suggest that the 30-year old Estudiantes La Plata star could be making his way to MLS in 2014 to join compatriot Diego Valeri at JELD-WEN Field.
Fernandez kicked off his career with homeland outfit River Plate in 2002 before departing after loan spells with Racing Club and Monterrey. He then joined San Lorenzo before spending more time in Mexico with Tigres prior to landing permanently at Estudiantes in 2010 following a loan in La Plata.
