Portland Timbers acquire MLS pool keeper Angevine

Official release from Portland Timbers

The Portland Timbers today announced that the club has called up MLS league pool goalkeeper Scott Angevine.

He will join the Timbers this afternoon ahead of their upcoming two-match road trip against the San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake.

Angevine, 23, joins the Timbers as a result of injuries to Portland goalkeepers Donovan Ricketts and Jake Gleeson sustained in matches over the weekend.

A native of Overland Park, Kan., Angevine was recently with the Columbus Crew, serving as a backup during a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union on Aug. 29, and has also spent time with Sporting Kansas City this season.

Angevine played the last three seasons of his collegiate career (2009-11) at Coastal Carolina University, where he was a two-time All-Big South first-team selection and finished as the school's career leader in shutouts (16). He led the Chanticleers to three straight conference titles and two NCAA tournament appearances. Angevine played his freshman season at Northern Illinois University in 2007.
