Diego Valeri has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 31 of the 2014 season.
The Portland Timbers midfielder scored a double as his side defeated San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 on Wednesday night last week.
Following Rodney Wallace's 41st minute opener, Valeri doubled Portland's advantage ten minutes later when he converted from the penalty spot after Wallace had been fouled in the area.
With just over 15 minutes remaining, the Argentine followed up Wallace's blocked effort to slot home from close range to keep the Timbers' play-off hopes alive.
Portland sit sixth on the Western Conference table on 45 points, one point behind fifth-placed Vancouver Whitecaps with two regular season matches remaining.
Caleb Porter's Timbers host the West's third-placed side Real Salt Lake next weekend before heading to Texas to take on FC Dallas, who are fourth, in a potentially season-defining fixture on the final weekend.
