Port Vale have signed Aston Villa striker Tobias Mikaelsson on a one-month loan.

The 19-year-old Swede is the second Villa youngster to join the Valiants with Chris Herd already at Vale Park following his loan move.

And Mikaelsson admits he was keen to make the move as soon as he had spoken to Herd about Lee Sinnott's side.

"I first knew of Vale's interest a couple of days ago when Chris Herd spoke to me about it and I have been thinking it over, but I didn't need much persuading.

"It is a chance to play first-team football and Chris has told me all about the place and how friendly all the staff are here.

"Once Chris told me what a good club it is, I didn't really have to think about it at all as I see it as a good opportunity. I have scored a lot of goals in the reserves and I hope to do the same in my time at Port Vale."
