Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite is interested in signing permanently on-loan Watford striker Uche Ikpeazu.
Ikpeazu, 20, is currently on loan at Vale Park until January and is the club's top scorer with six goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.
Speaking on BBC Radio Stoke, Smurthwaite said: "We will be shortly holding dialogue with Watford to see whether they want to extend the loan or maybe sign him as a player.
“That is something that we may consider depending on what the requirements of the club (Watford) are financially."
