Port Vale boss Rob Page understands Newcastle United recalling Remie Streete from his loan last week.
Streete was recalled over fitness doubts for Toon defensive pair Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor.
"I would do exactly the same," Page told the Stoke Sentinel.
"As frustrated as I am, and I would love Remie to stay, I understand Alan Pardew has a job to do as well.
"We're borrowing his player and helping develop him. He has been outstanding for us, so I can see why he has called him back.
"Alan has injuries himself, and is protecting him for this weekend.
"There is no game for Newcastle, but he can't run the risk of Remie getting injured for us and then Newcastle being down to the bare bones."
