Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says he wants their summer transfer business done early.
The 43-year-old admits Spurs cannot compete with the financial muscle of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United but believes they can still land their top targets by stealing a march on their opponents.
"If you punch before the opponent, you have half of the job done," he told the London Evening Standard. "For us, it's important to work hard during the season to take early decisions. This is always important in football.
"I think that we need to be more clever than the teams that invest more money than us. It is for that, I am very happy because we create a very strong institute now and follow the players around the world. We need to arrive earlier than these teams that have more possibilities to invest than us."
