Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is under pressure at St Mary's.

The Daily Star says chairman Nicola Cortese has held talks with Argentinian boss Mauricio Pochettino about taking over at St Mary's.

Cortese remains unconvinced about Adkins, even though he has overseen a revival in Saints' form following a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

Pochettino, 40, has been out of work since leaving Spanish side Espanyol in November.

Pochettino played for Espanyol as well as Bordeaux, Paris St Germain and Newell's Old Boys. He also won 20 caps for Argentina.
