Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is delighted with their deal for Lyon defender Dejan Lovren.

Lovren came through the St Mary's doors last month.

"We're very clear about our goals and [signing Dejan] Lovren was one of our goals," Pochettino told saintsfc.co.uk. "We signed him in the way and when we wanted to sign him.

"I think he's known already. He's played in Lyon for the last four years and played in the Champions League. He's an international footballer too.

"He is a quality player, has a presence on the field and he's good at solving difficult situations. I think his qualities will really suit the Premier League, so we're very happy to have him and to add him into this project that we're in now."
