Pochettino confident Tottenham win was fair result

Mauricio Pochettino felt his Tottenham side thoroughly deserved their 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Ryan Mason's 82nd-minute goal was the difference as Spurs edged the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light on Sunday to record their first victory of the new Premier League season.

After the match, Pochettino indicated that he felt his Tottenham side were good value for the win which saw them climb the table to 12th position following three draws in a row.

"We are happy with our first victory in the Premier League," he said.

"It was important for the players to give them confidence because it's never easy when you play well and you deserve to win - like in the last few games - and you don't get the victory, it's never easy to work.

"But I am very pleased with the players. I think we deserved a lot from the second half, because the first half was an open game. But in the second half, we dominated and created the better chances and I think in the end, it was fair, the result."
