Players union casts doubt on new Chiellini deal with Juventus

The Italian PFA has cast doubt on the new contract signed by Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.

Chiellini's five-year deal worth €3.5m a season, which he penned last night, is quite revolutionary in that it includes clauses regarding the clothes he wears, his Twitter updates, and nightclub appearances.

However, vice-president of the local players' union Leonardo Grosso insists that given the ongoing dispute regarding the players' collective bargaining agreement with the League, it might well be worthless and need doing all over again.

"The opinion of the Italian Olympic Committee's High Court of Justice underlined that new contracts should make reference to the old collective agreement, which expired on June 30 and that schemes pre-established by only one of the disputed parties [i.e the Lega or the AIC] could not be followed," Grosso said.
