BEAUSEJOUR BRILLIANCE LIGHTING UP LATICSJordi Gomez deserves the plaudits for his hat-trick against Reading. However Wigan Athletic teammate Jean Beausejour warrants even greater praise, not just for his performance on Saturday, but his form throughout the season. The Chilean is playing the best football of his career and really turned it on against the Royals. His cross for Gomez's second was outstanding, but no one-off. Time and again he chose the right time to whip a ball into Adam Federici's penalty area. Beausejour had Chris Gunter's measure, but didn't look to beat him when a crossing opportunity was on. And when Reading were in possession, he was never caught out by Jobi McAnuff. Up and back. Up and back. Beausejour has some motor on him and Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has some player on his hands.

SUNDERLAND CAN FORGIVE MIGNOLETSunderland players know they can afford Simon Mignolet his one howler on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion. It was a shocker. But the Belgian deserves to be forgiven after his outstanding work this campaign. Social media was abuzz late after the game that Martin O'Neill had resigned - so much so that it forced Sunderland to officially deny the rumours. The Black Cats have lacked inspiration all season and O'Neill appears to be running out of ideas. Can he really afford to wait for the likes of Sessegnon, Johnson and McClean to come good as teams around them begin getting their act together?

Yes, it was against an opposition in crisis, but it was still the Brazilian who turned the momentum of the game where before him Paul Scholes had struggled. His passing, particularly for Javier Hernandez's goal, was effective, but perhaps most importantly, he appeared to have rediscovered his acceleration. On several occasions, Anderson would power past Rs tacklers with a burst of speed many believed he had lost forever. Along with Darren Fletcher's full 90 and goal, Sir Alex Ferguson will be delighted his faith in Anderson was justified on Saturday.

CAN AVB RESIST DROPPING DEFOE?Jermain Defoe is absolutely flying for Tottenham this season. Is there a better goal scorer in the country at the moment? Certainly, he's England's form player. The brace against West Ham and overall performance was outstanding. But the problem for Defoe and Spurs fans is the manager. Can Andre Villas-Boas resist pulling him out of the firing line just to prove a tactical point, as so many pundits have criticised the manager for doing so this season?

HOW CAN CHELSEA ALLOW COLE TO GO?How can Chelsea allow Ashley Cole to leave when he's performing as he is at the moment? The contract policy is understandable, but should be flexible, especially within a squad undergoing such change. Cole was Chelsea's best against Manchester City at both ends of the pitch. It emerged over the weekend that Chelsea's senior players were exasperated by the club's stand over his contract. How could they be allowing a player in his prime to move to a European rival so easily? PSG have already tweeted an agreement has been struck. Even if it was a gaffe, it's madness on Chelsea's behalf to be pushing a genuine world class player out of the club.
